These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the developer of Wild Med ("Wild Med", "we", "us"). By downloading or using the Wild Med app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Wild Med provides general educational and reference information about wilderness and austere-environment medicine. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional medical training, certification, clinical judgment, local protocols, or medical direction.
Always seek the advice of a physician or other qualified health care provider with any questions about a medical condition, and check with a doctor or your medical direction before making medical decisions. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read in the app.
Using the app does not create a doctor–patient or other health care provider relationship between you and Wild Med or any author, reviewer, or contributor.
If you or someone else may be having a medical emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number) or activate SOS on a satellite messenger immediately. Do not rely on the app in an emergency. The app, its content, and Leo may be unavailable, out of date, or wrong, and Leo requires an internet connection.
Only perform assessments, procedures, and treatments, and only give medications, that you are trained, certified, licensed, and authorized to perform or give, within your scope of practice and the laws and protocols where you are. Drug names and doses in the app are general references drawn from published sources; confirm every dose, route, and contraindication against current product labeling, your protocols, medical direction, or a pharmacist before use. The app does not calculate patient-specific medication doses.
"Healthcare Provider (Pro)" content is intended for trained and licensed providers. Buying Pro does not grant any authority to practice medicine or to use any skill or medication.
We work to base content on current evidence-based sources, including Wilderness Medical Society clinical practice guidelines, but medicine changes and errors are possible. We do not guarantee that any content is complete, accurate, current, or suitable for a particular situation, patient, or environment. Use the "Report an error" link on any library page to tell us about a problem.
Clinical tools in the app (such as the Lake Louise AMS score, Glasgow Coma Scale, burn size estimator, and pediatric normal vital signs) are aids to organize your own assessment. They are not diagnostic devices, have not been reviewed or cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or any other regulator, and do not replace clinical judgment.
Leo uses an artificial intelligence model provided by a third party (Anthropic) to generate answers. AI answers can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong, and may sound confident when they are not. Leo is a decision-support and reference tool; it does not make medical decisions. You are responsible for evaluating any answer against the library, your training, and your protocols.
Before using Leo you must agree to have your questions shared with the AI provider as described in our Privacy Policy. Do not enter names or other information that identifies a patient. Free use is limited, and Pro users have a daily limit, to keep the service available.
Wild Med is not a covered entity or business associate under the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and is not an electronic medical record. If you are a health care provider or work for one, you are responsible for following HIPAA and any other privacy laws, consent requirements, and your organization’s policies that apply to information you enter, store, export, or share. Use the minimum identifying information needed (for example, initials or a patient number).
You are responsible for the accuracy of notes you write and for how you share exported PDFs and photos. Photos you add stay on your device. Do not use the app as the official record of care unless your organization has approved it.
Some features (saving SOAP notes to your account and using Leo) require an account. Keep your sign-in details secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete Account, which permanently deletes your account and the data we hold about it as described in the Privacy Policy.
Pro is available as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, at the prices shown in the app. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and length unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings. Deleting the app or your Wild Med account does not cancel a subscription.
All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple under its policies (reportaproblem.apple.com). Use Restore Purchases to restore Pro on a new device.
We may add, change, or remove features, content, and limits, including Pro content, to keep the app accurate and working.
Do not misuse the app, including by: using it for any unlawful purpose; attempting to access other users’ data; interfering with or overloading the service or Leo; reverse engineering the app except where the law allows; scraping or redistributing content; or using Leo to create harmful content.
The app and its original text, design, and software belong to Wild Med and are protected by intellectual property laws. Images in the library are public domain or released under CC0, and are credited where they appear. Cited guidelines and references belong to their publishers. You keep ownership of the notes and photos you create; you give us permission to store and process them only to provide the app to you.
Wilderness and outdoor activities and the provision of first aid and medical care in austere environments involve inherent risks, including serious injury and death. You use the app and act on any information in it at your own risk and are solely responsible for your decisions and actions.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE APP AND ALL CONTENT, TOOLS, AND AI ANSWERS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR AVAILABLE OFFLINE OR IN REMOTE AREAS.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WILD MED AND ITS DEVELOPER, AUTHORS, REVIEWERS, AND CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR RELIANCE ON THE APP, ITS CONTENT, ITS TOOLS, OR LEO. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limits, so some of the above may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the fullest extent the law allows.
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Wild Med and its developer from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the app, your violation of these Terms, or care you provide to others.
These Terms are between you and Wild Med only, not Apple Inc. ("Apple"). Wild Med, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content, maintenance, support, warranties, and any claims relating to the app (including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection, and intellectual property claims). Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Your use of the app must also comply with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
We may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we will show the updated Terms in the app before they take effect; continuing to use the app afterward means you accept them. We may suspend or end access for anyone who violates these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 11–15) continue after termination.
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the app.
